A coming-of-age story about Metin, a Turkish boy and son of immigrants, growing up in the Bijlmer in Amsterdam. His life and his family’s dynamics are very different from mine, which made it interesting to read and sort of experience. I wasn’t a huge fan of the writing style, which leans on comparisons a lot, and I like books with a bit more direction than this one has.

Read in Dutch. As far as I know there’s no English translation.
